A Little Bit Of History

Newcastle Free Form is a locally owned company that manufactures laminated and solid surface products.

It is solely owned by Terry Grainger a qualified cabinetmaker and joiner for the past 34 years.

He operated his successful joinery business for 15 years working both in residential and commercial sectors of the trade before changing to purely benchtop fabrication.

Over the years Terry has continued to modernise both his factory and machinery, with all the latest technology in postforming and solid surface equipment.

Newcastle Free Form has installed over the past twelve months a CNC Router, VFL 75 Flow through Postformer, Baioni Hydraulic Press and Glue Spreader to enable us to provide you our customer with environmentally friendly top quality products using all the latest technology within a reasonable time frame.

We pride ourselves on quality and service and by upgrading our machinery is just another way to ensure that we carry out these services to the optimum.

We don't make kitchens, we just make tops.

What does the future hold on Benchtops?

The new machinery installed in the factory will allow for a wider scope of applications. Rolls can be made tighter on most board thickness using most brands of laminate. The new glue spreader, press and flow through postformer uses white PVA glue which once pressed can not be reactivated by heat.

Man-made acrylics have increased dramatically within the market which offers great flexibility with design and applications. Solid surface material has qualities unlike any others. It is non porous, stain-resistant, 100% solid colour, fully repairable, has seamless joins and can have integrated splashback and bowls. It is a thermoform product so the only limitation is your imagination.

Baioni Hydraulic Press and Glue Press

It has the ability to be used as a hot and cold press. Laminated Panels can be made up to 400 in length and 1300 wide in any thickness. The press can be used for a variety of uses outside of Benchtops.
For Example:

• Pressing Doors
• Panels laminated on flat surfaces
• Ply laminated etc
• If you require any surfaces pressed call us.

VFL 75 Flow Through Postformer

A fast method of rolling tops with greater flexibility in profiles and thickness.

CNC Router

This machine has the ability to bring shapes to life.

It was purchases to ensure precision cutting on joins and ends of our benchtops.

GEO Postformer

This postforming machine is the only one of its kind in the Newcastle, Hunter and Northern regions which specialises in geometric post forming [laminated tops with a curve]. This includes panels with tapered width, thickness and profile.
